Transportation
The Town of Ithaca has a mission to foster a transportation system that enhances quality of life and envisions a multi-modal transportation network. The Town has over 20 public transportation routes that service the area and many walking trails. The Town of Ithaca owns and maintains approximately 50 miles of road out of approximately 121 miles of road within the municipal boundary. The Town’s 2007 Transportation Plan is a long-range plan defining the community vision of how the transportation system should develop. The Town of Ithaca is part of the Ithaca-Tompkins County Transportation Council Complete Streets Network and adopted the Complete Streets Policy in 2015; the Town adopted the Tompkins County Joint Safety Action Plan in 2025 along with a Vision Zero Policy.
