Domestic Partnerships
A Domestic Partnership Registry confers no legal benefits. It is a mechanism to declare yourselves to be in a committed, loving, and supportive relationship. You will receive a Certificate of Domestic Partnership that some entities may accept for such things as dependent health insurance coverage, banking needs, and medical situations.
The couple must apply at the Town Clerks’ Office. Both applicants MUST have forms of identify, same as if applying for a marriage license, commonly a driver’s license and an original or certified copy of you birth certificate as well as other documentation indicating you are in a domestic partnership.
Most common forms of proof of a domestic partnership are utility bills, financial statements with both names, joint ownership/lease of auto or home, beneficiary designation.
