CARING FOR YOUR CEMETERY DAY APRIL 26
April 23, 2025
PUBLIC NOTICE
Calling for volunteers:
Greensprings Natural Cemetery Preserve in Newfield, Lake View Cemetery in Ithaca, and South Hill Cemetery, also in Ithaca, are all taking part in this event. Volunteers will gather at each cemetery prepared to do clean up, mulching, planting, cleaning signs and other tasks.
Everyone is welcome to come and help out the cemetery board members who maintain these important community facilities year-round. We shall provide gloves, tools, water and snacks. Please bring a few of your own tools to ensure that we have enough for all participants.
Come volunteer with us as we beautify each of these cemeteries for spring.
“New York’s cemeteries are home to so much of our state’s history and culture, and it’s critical that we collectively work to preserve and care for these treasured, but often overlooked, community assets. That’s why I am proud to announce our second ‘Caring for Your Cemetery Day’ on April 26th. I encourage all New Yorkers to take this opportunity to volunteer at your local cemetery and help future generations learn to appreciate the history and culture and unique stories our cemeteries have to offer.”
—Secretary of State Walter T. Mosley
