International
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is the United Nations body for assessing the science related to climate change. The IPCC was created to provide policymakers with regular scientific assessments on climate change, its implications and potential future risks, as well as to put forward adaptation and mitigation options.
United States
Summarizes the impacts of climate change on the United States, now and in the future. The Fourth National Climate Assessment (NCA4) is the most recent report, consisting of two volumes published in 2017 and 2018.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) provides data, tools, and information to help people understand and prepare for climate variability and change.
New York State
New York State is committed to the most aggressive clean energy and climate agenda in the country. In 2019, NYS passed the nation-leading Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (Climate Act or CLCPA) to empower every New Yorker to fight climate change at home, at work, and in their communities.
NYSERDA offers objective information and analysis, innovative programs, technical expertise, and support to help New Yorkers increase energy efficiency, save money, use renewable energy, and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
The Energy and Climate section of the DEC website focuses on the policies, programs and plans DEC and New York State have made to reduce GHG emissions and to help New Yorkers adapt as the climate changes. There is also information on New York’s energy resources.
