Planning
Overview
The Planning Department provides technical planning services to Town residents and the various boards and committees of the Town. The primary functions include:
- Updates and implements the Town’s Comprehensive Plan and other long-range planning programs
- Coordinates site plan, subdivision, and environmental reviews
- Assists applicants through appropriate review processes
- Assists the various boards and committees of the Town through research, writing regulations and making recommendations
- Conducts research on economic and demographic conditions in the Town
- Maintains databases on the Town’s population, land use, housing, environmental conditions, community facilities, etc.
- Assists in the planning and design of the Town’s parks and trails
- Prepares grant applications under federal, state and other funding programs
- Oversees the preparation of special planning studies and reports
